Matt Harvey Discusses Death Revenge, New Gruesome, and Touring
Matt Harvey is one of the most versatile musicians in modern death metal. Two of his bands, Exhumed and Gruesome, are some of the most well-known bands in the genre. Exhumed is a legendary name in extreme metal, combining the best of classic death metal and brutal grind. Ever since Gruesome’s formation in 2015, they have erupted in the death metal community. While active in many other bands alongside these two, you have to wonder how Matt Harvey sleeps.
Exhumed’s new song “Defenders of the Grave” combines Exhumed’s classic sound, with added elements such as a complex song structure and some groove. The whole album Death Revenge revolves around a slasher tale of the Burke and Hare murders, two Irishmen who killed a horde of people to sell their bodies to surgeons. Matt Harvey stated he didn’t want each song to sound the same, but if the rest of the album sounds anything like “Defenders of the Grave”, I will be happy.
Matt Harvey also mentions in the interview that the new Gruesome album is 95% completed. He teased the album is very Spiritual Healing-inspired. I don’t know about you all, but I’m excited!
