Roger Miret of Agnostic Front Discusses Touring, My Riot, and their Legacy
You can’t list hardcore legends without mentioning Agnostic Front. The legendary New York hardcore scene and its trademark on the world wouldn’t be the same without Agnostic Front.
Seeing Agnostic Front performing was an amazing experience. Florida fans were in vocalist Roger Miret’s face, screaming all of the words and going absolutely insane. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a crowd rage that hard. It really proved the devotion from Florida hardcore fans.
When I spoke to Roger, I enjoyed hearing his wisdom on the music industry and of life in general. This is a man who has been through a lot and “seen it, done it.” Because of these reasons, anyone can take influence from his autobiography My Riot.
I especially enjoyed Roger talking about his devotion to the underground scene. He mentioned when bands become successful, they lose their roots. Since Agnostic Front laid the groundwork for one of the biggest genres in heavy music, they can never forget their roots. Hearing that from a legendary figure was very inspiring for me.
I was able to speak to Roger Miret in Tampa, Florida at Crowbar while Agnostic Front was on their 35th Anniversary Tour. In the interview we discuss the Florida and New York hardcore scenes, My Riot, and how Agnostic Front has kept it together for 35 years.
