Rivers of Nihil Discusses Where Owls Know My Name

Rivers of Nihil is truly a breath of fresh air for metal. It’s difficult for metal bands to break new barriers and actually sound good. This is why so many bands, even new bands, stick within metal comfort zones. But Rivers of Nihil prove comfort zones can be broken and a new wheel can be invented in metal.

On March 16, Rivers of Nihil released the masterpiece Where Owls Know My Name. This album combines so much emotion; haunting melodies mix with energetic drumming, leaving the listener with a myriad of emotions. This is also one of the few albums you can listen to from front-to-back, as well as choosing individual songs.

A Rivers of Nihil live show is also one I never miss. I first saw these guys years ago when they opened up for the last DTA tour. And seeing them in Tampa on April 8 reminded me this band still has so much energy and can truly compel an audience. Their live performance and their incredible songwriting proves this band is groundbreaking.

I was able to speak to Rivers of Nihil guitarist Brody Uttley and bassist Adam Biggs. In the interview they discuss the tour, Where Owls Know My Name, and what they can say about the rest of the year.

My name is Stephanie Jensen. I started my career as a music journalist five years ago. I had the idea for Infernal TV when I realized I desired more creative direction. I enjoyed working with video, so I decided to create a video-based website for metal bands.
