Joona of Battle Beast Discusses New Music
Battle Beast is on an uphill climb. Since they formed around ten years ago, Battle Beast is one of the most forceful acts in modern metal. Their old-school clash of traditional heavy metal and power metal is attracting a copious amount of fans. Battle Beast is especially attracting fans with vocalist Noora Louhimo, whose voice resembles the second-coming of Doro Pesch.
I actually never heard of Battle Beast until recently. A friend of mine loves them and showed me the song “Straight to the Heart.” I loved their old-school heavy metal sound but noticed the song is still super catchy, so I wanted to check out a live show. I was blown away; even though they played before mega-bands Delain and Kamelot, Battle Beast truly stole the show. Each member has so much energy and their whole set sounded perfect.
Even though this band has gained a devoted fanbase early in their career, they’re still growing as a band. Battle Beast saw this growth with their 2017 release Bringer of Pain. They perfected their signature modern heavy metal sound, so the whole album is loud and powerful. Everyone performed perfectly and put their best food forward with this album. In my interview, guitarist Joona Björkroth announced they’re planning on recording after their summer European tour, and they’ve evolved their sound even further.
I was able to speak to Joona on the Orlando date of their U.S. tour with Kamelot and Delain. In the interview, Joona discussed the rest of the touring they have planned and what he can tell us about the new record.
