Deicide “Overtures of Blasphemy” Album Review

Deicide has never compromised their blasphemous sound for anyone. With their newest album, Overtures of Blasphemy, they’re setting the bar with their expert songwriting. Each song holds Deicide’s individual evil sound but excels in songwriting and musicianship. This is why Deicide is one of the most influential death metal bands in history.
I was definitely impressed by Overtures of Blasphemy, but I can’t help but set higher standards for their music. When I was a wee one and discovered Deicide, they were the most evil sounding band I ever heard. Nothing can top the first time I heard albums such as Deicide, Legion and Scars of the Crucifix. Overtures of Blasphemy is an impressive album, but it still doesn’t hold that pure evil sound.
But nonetheless, this is a great album. It’s one of Deicide’s strongest modern albums. The way the riffs, melodies, solos and lyrics come together is genius work. The album is great as a whole and the individual songs sound great on their own.
The album also sounds polished but not overly produced, thanks to Jason Suecof from Audiohammer Studios.
