Monotheist Interview and Scourge Album Review | Infernal TV Episode 9
It’s very rare to find a band whose debut album is nothing short of perfect. But there’s one band who is punching right in with their first album: Monotheist. They are a force to reckon with. Scourge combines blistering brutality with intoxicating melodies, making this album advanced for a label debut. Monotheist signed with Prosthetic Records and released Scourge all in 2018.
Monotheist live is a whole other monster. The songs they play aren’t easy, yet they all play them perfectly. But vocalist JJ “Shiv” Polachek is the one who stands out; his incredible stage presence and dominating vocals takes over the minute the band starts playing.
This band is a little sentimental to me. I met guitarist Tyler McDaniel a few years back. Monotheist is from Orlando; I’m from Tampa, so I’m only a couple hours away from where these guys live. So I’ve been following these guys for several years. It’s incredible to watch this band grow and receive the recognition they deserve. It’s hard to find a modern death metal band that’s truly unique, but that band is Monotheist.
