Footage From PBX in Tampa, FL | Infernal TV Episode 18

The first ever PBX came to Tampa in 2018! Playback Independent Music Expo, or PBX, is an event by EMP Records, hosting a whole weekend of music events. PBX started with clinics at Replay Guitar Exchange and a show at the Brass Mug. The next day was a whole panel — your favorite artists shared music industry advice, told their best stories from the road, discussed your favorite albums, and had a meet and greet.

So, who was in the panel? If we’re talking about EMP, of course we have to mention David Ellefson! Ellefson’s partner in crime, Thom Hazaert, put together much of the event and shared his industry knowledge from his years working at labels. Other incredible names include Steve Lynch (Autograph), Brian “Head” Welch (Korn), Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth), Troy Sanders (Mastodon), Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), Todd La Torre (Queensryche), James Murphy (Testament, Death, Obituary), Gus Rios (Gruesome), Peter Klett (Candlebox), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Jason Bieler (Saigon Kick), and many more artists. The panel also featured two iconic audio engineers who produced several of your favorite albums. These producers are Max Norman and Toby Wright.

Check out the footage I got of the PBX panel. You’ll watch Norman and Wright discuss recording albums by Megadeth and Alice in Chains, Hazaert giving great advice to bands, how Todd La Torre got into Queensryche, and some crazy tour stories! You’ll also see an interview from Replay Guitar Exchange, an awesome music store in Tampa who had a lot of involvement with PBX.

My name is Stephanie Jensen. I started my career as a music journalist five years ago. I had the idea for Infernal TV when I realized I desired more creative direction. I enjoyed working with video, so I decided to create a video-based website for metal bands.
