Mikko of Swallow the Sun Discusses Touring and When a Shadow Is Forced Into the Light | Infernal TV Episode 20
I remember when I discovered Swallow the Sun. A friend told me about them a few years back and recommended I check them out. I definitely thought they were unique and I liked what I heard. But this was years ago. Since then, I hear more people say how much they love them.
What I like about Swallow the Sun is you can’t place them in a genre. Even though I see people try and label them, they fit their own unique style. They have also evolved with each album. This is what makes Swallow the Sun really stand out.
I liked their music before but their live set truly captivated me. They had so much energy and power in their set. This is a band I definitely will never miss live!
When a Shadow Is Forced Into the Light is my new favorite album by then. Each song sticks with you; there’s so much raw emotion in each song, the cleans and growls both sound amazing, the guitars are amazing, and the overall composition is very moving. Give the album a listen if you haven’t yet!
I was able to speak to Swallow the Sun’s vocalist Mikko Kotamäki while at their show in Tampa. In the interview, he discusses their U.S. tour, their Europe tour right after, and the writing and production of When a Shadow Is Forced Into the Light.
