Lord Ahriman of Dark Funeral Discusses Devastation On the Nation Tour and New Music

When modern black metal comes to mind, Dark Funeral is one of the first bands that people think of. I can’t remember how I discovered Dark Funeral. All I know is, I listened to the Angelus Exuro pro Eternus album for the first time and thought it was one of the most evil albums I ever heard of. From there, I always followed Dark Funeral.

I had the opportunity to watch them twice before 2019’s Devastation of the Nation tour. The first time, I was at a festival and another band I wanted to see played the same time they did. The second time, I was at another festival and they played extremely early (my friend and I got to the festival late). So when I saw them announced on the tour, I knew I had to make it to the show.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the other bands that played. But Dark Funeral was the best of the night. They played some of their best songs such as “King Antichrist,” “My Funeral,” and “Where Shadows Forever Reign.” I was even shocked they played “My Dark Desires.”

I was able to speak to Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman. In the interview he discusses the tour and new music.

My name is Stephanie Jensen. I started my career as a music journalist five years ago. I had the idea for Infernal TV when I realized I desired more creative direction. I enjoyed working with video, so I decided to create a video-based website for metal bands.
