Midnight “Rebirth by Blasphemy” Album Review

On January 24, Midnight will release Rebirth by Blasphemy. This album shows the progression of Athenar’s musicianship, focusing on catchy hooks while keeping Midnight’s signature raw sound. This is their first release on Metal Blade Records and will definitely be a landmark in Midnight’s career.

But do I think Rebirth by Blasphemy lives up to the hype? It’s definitely not one of Midnight’s strongest albums. Some songs, such as “Raw Attack” and “You Can Drag Me Through Fire” hold that same sinister rock sound that fuels Midnight fans. But other songs, such as “Rising Scum” are weak and boring.

I always thought Midnight was an awesome band and Athenar was a unique and talented musician. I love how Midnight takes classic metal and rock and turns it into something more sinister. I was expecting that and more with Rebirth by Blasphemy. The album doesn’t live up to my expectations but it’s definitely not a bad album. And I highly recommend all Midnight fans give this album a listen. Judging by the YouTube comments on the songs already up, the material seems to get good feedback from the fans.
