Sébastien Croteau Discusses La Fabrique de Monstres and Necrotic Mutation
One of the most unique projects I ever discovered was La Fabrique de Monstres (The Monster Factory). This is a company that outsources voice actors to video game companies, TV series, filmmakers, and more. The company was started by three vocalists: Sébastien Croteau, Corinne Cardinal, and Jeff Mott. Since then, they have grown and now have a whole team of vocalists that video game companies and filmmakers can use for their work.
Croteau has an extensive history as a vocalist and voiceover actor. He started singing at a young age and moved on to do death metal vocals. He joined Quebec-based death metal band Necrotic Mutation as a teenager. The band reformed in 2018 and is now working on new material. Croteau also studied Tuvan throat singing and has a huge resume showcasing his experience as a voiceover actor.
Croteau and his partners had the inspiration for the company because, even though they’re successful vocalists and voiceover actors, they realized they can’t fulfill every role needed. They also learned that all vocalists have their own unique talents and wanted to bring them to success. One of their videos, Horde, received massive exposure. It shows all 16 voiceover actors imitating a horde of zombies. You can watch the video here:
I was able to speak to Croteau about his background as a metal vocalist and voiceover actor, La Fabrique de Monstres, and what he can say about new Necrotic Mutation material.
