Leveled “One World Comes Back Around” Review: “…packs a lot of punch into this three-song EP”
Leveled is a metal band from South Florida that combines the unique influences of metalcore and nu-metal. On August 10 Leveled will release their latest EP “One World Comes Back Around.” While the EP is only three songs, the EP is a vehement force that combines the band’s influences. Not every song is powerful on its own, but this is definitely an EP to listen to in full.
The EP opens up strong with “As Below.” The track is extremely forceful and energetic. I can see this being a great track to play live. The song follows the same formula all the way through the song, so it doesn’t capture the listener as other tracks. But it is catchy and heavy, which makes it a good opening track.
The next song, “126.22 Hz,” is where things get interesting. This track opens up with a cool cacophony of effects. The intro lasts a little too long, in my opinion, but it’s a good change-up from the last song. The vocals come in muted under the effects, making the song a bit more intriguing. While I wouldn’t call this a filler track, it definitely prepares you for the next song.
The final track, “Lucas” goes back to the heaviness. This track combines the effects with the metal influences that can absorb anyone. Because of this, the track is more unpredictable and better grasps the listener. This song is not only aggressive but also energetic, making it one of the best songs on the EP.
“One World Comes Back Around” packs a lot of punch into this three-song EP. This isn’t one where I would listen to individual songs; rather, the EP as a whole. I can also see these songs will be great in a live set. Leveled is playing with We’re Wolves at Respectful Street on October 22, so be sure you go out and support if you’re in the area.
