Jan Zehrfeld of Panzerballett Discusses Übercode Œuvre

Panzerballett has broken many barriers in different ways. They’re famous for mixing metal with jazz, funk, and other genres, and every song is spastic and unpredictable. Panzerballett also puts their own spin on classic songs—everything from Dave Brubeck’s “Take Five” to “The Simpsons’ Theme.”
Fans can expect the same and more with their latest album, Übercode Œuvre. Stand-out tracks, such as a fusion version of Meshuggah’s famous “Bleed” and a jazzy take of “Ode to Joy,” while Panzerballett welcomes an onslaught of iconic collaborations, such as Virgil Donati and Marco Minnemann.
I was able to speak to Panzerballett mastermind Jan Zehrfeld. In the interview, we discuss the songs on the new album, the collaborations, and what fans can expect on their upcoming Europe tour.
