Hideous Divinity Discusses Simulacrum and Touring North America

If there’s one modern death metal band that will make it big, it’s Hideous Divinity. Their sound is very old school but has a modern atmosphere. Hideous Divinity proves you don’t have to be the most technical band to be good. Their songs are expertly written, they have amazing riffs, and overall are just a solid band.

The one factor that stands out Hideous Divinity from other bands is their live show. Each member is almost warlike; vocalist Enrico di Lorenzo acts like he’s possessed the whole show while each other member engages in a symphony of constant headbanging.

This was my second time seeing Hideous Divinity and it was their best performance. Hideous Divinity was only second on the tour (Abysmal Dawn and Vader played after them, Vitriol before). I honestly thought Hideous Divinity was the best band of the night.

I also think Simulacrum has to be their best album. Hideous Divinity has been constantly evolving and they reached their zenith with their newest album. From the beginning to the end, this album is completely monstrous. In my interview, the guys in Hideous Divinity explain they’re not the most technical players. But they have the skill to write intoxicating music that conveys a dark atmosphere. And that’s the best skill a musician can have.

I was able to speak to Hideous Divinity guitarist Enrico Schettino and bassist Stefano Franceschini. In the interview, they discuss the tour, the writing of Simulacrum, and their plans for the rest of the year.

My name is Stephanie Jensen. I started my career as a music journalist five years ago. I had the idea for Infernal TV when I realized I desired more creative direction. I enjoyed working with video, so I decided to create a video-based website for metal bands.
