Arsis Discusses Visitant | Infernal TV Episode 19
I’ll never forget the first time I heard Arsis. We Are the Nightmare was just released. I was just getting into death metal; a friend of mine from school first showed me the classics (Death, etc.) and started showing me some modern bands. He showed me Arsis and I instantly fell in love. Their songs were catchy, the musicianship was amazing, and the songs were technical where they needed to be and melodic where they needed to be. Since then, I’ve been following Arsis closely.
Their new album, Visitant, is by far one of the strongest albums I’ve heard in a long time. “Tricking the Gods” is my favorite song. The riffs immediately draw you in and the whole song is filled with hooks, melodies, and some of the best riffs Arsis ever wrote.
I have to agree with vocalist/guitarist James Malone in the interview I did with he and bassist Noah Martin. James said they used a good deal of space, which I agree with. So many modern death metal bands feel the need to fill up every second of a song with solos and other crazy stuff. Sometimes, you just need to let the songs be and let them come naturally. I think that’s why I love this new album so much.
In my interview, you can hear Malone and Martin talk about Visitant!
