Taylor Washington of Paladin Discusses Touring, Ascension, and the Future

Paladin is a fairly new band. The band formed in 2015 and is already signed, touring, and has a full-length album out. They even played Prog Power this year! Paladin shows so much promise and have an amazing future ahead of them.

Paladin is the perfect blend of many fun metal subgenres. You can definitely hear their power, thrash, and speed metal influences. But there’s definitely some crazy riffage, death metal vocals, and other unique influences that helps Paladin stand out. Throw in a little bit of nerdy stuff with video games and anime and BOOM — you have Paladin!

Paladin’s debut album, Ascension, is a powerful debut album. The crazy riffing starts with an insane song such as “Awakening,” gets a little heavier with “Divine Providence,” gets a little proggy with “Carpe Diem,” and the melody kicks in with “Fall From Grace.”

The members of the band have other bands and an impressive resume. Vocalist and guitarist Taylor Washington is the touring guitarist for Arsis and guitarist Alex Parra was also in Gunpowder Grey.

Overall, Paladin is a band that everyone will like. They’re a group of talented musicians and their sound is fun and unique. Their live show is also extremely fun and they will impress anyone in the crowd.

I was able to speak to Washington about the Apophis Part II tour, Ascension, and their plans for next year.
